I Quit the Gym

I quit the gym today. It was becoming like a friend that you really want to hang out with, but in reality, it never happens. Something always came up work, errands, parenting and so much more.
Like every good relationship, I started with good intentions and with 100% commitment. Hell, I wanted to be one of those many women I saw at the gym taking selfies in the mirror . If they have worked that hard they should be proud. My investment was just not bringing any return, and my pocket was burning a hole in it while my body was burning nothing.

So now that my relationship with the gym is over, you may have thoughts that I am giving up and sitting on my couch in the evenings consuming packs of Tim Tams.
MMM Tim Tams.
I’m happy to say that this is not my goal well not every night.

For me, the journey is just beginning, and I’m just a little excited. I’m ditching my goal of trying to find time to get to the gym, and I’m working with a personal trainer who is happy to vary my workouts and help me fall in love with exercise again.
I am lucky that my second youngest daughter is training to be a personal trainer, so I know there will be no mercy.

I need my fitness to be in top condition for our upcoming holiday to Japan in September. One of my goals is to visit the Fushimi Inari Shrine and reach the highest summit which is famous for its thousands of vermilion torii gates.

I’m looking forward to starting a new relationship with fitness that works for me. If you are sick of never making it to the gym but paying for it then id love you to share my journey on Instagram & Facebook   and if the gym works for you then I always say ‘Do what works for you’, I will also be hosting some live discussions and would love you to join in. Are you still in love with exercise?

  1. We just quit our gym as well! We had great intentions but just weren’t going. So we now have an exercise plan to do at home, much more achievable (and cheaper) 🙂

  2. I’ve been missing from the gym for a couple of weeks due to illness and it’s going to be tough getting back (especially in winter). I’ve had a couple of memberships I’ve walked away from for the same reasons as you, this time round I have three people I can go with. We each keep each other accountable which is the main reason I keep going. Have fun with the personal trainer, they are awesome
